Nursery… Done!

Today has been a good day – we have finished the nursery! We have been gradually buying things to go in the baby’s room over the last few months, and we have now completed the finishing little touches. I am really pleased with how everything has come together. The theme for the room is a mixture of grey and white stars with some different shades of blue to make it a bit more colourful. We bought fairly neutral bedding just in case! It is a matching set from George at ASDA – I love it because there are so many things in the range that match. We got the cot bedding, cot bumpers, rug, nappy stacker, storage trugs, lampshade and blanket all with the same grey and white star pattern. It was exactly what we were looking for, really reasonably priced and good quality.

After we picked the bedding we bought little things to decorate the room as we saw them. I found it very hard to find things I liked in the shops, they were never quite what I was looking for. I managed to get a few bits from high-street shops, like the decorative star from Next and the cot mobile from Toys ‘R’ Us. I found there were lots of girly nursery decorations, but much less for boys. A friend from school runs a shop on Folksy and I asked her to make me a star cushion, wall decorations and bunting to brighten the room up. I am so pleased with how they have turned out, they are exactly what I was after. The changing unit and wardrobe are also special because they has been made by my husband’s step-dad who is a joiner. I think it is really nice to have some unique things that have been made especially for you.

My favourite thing in the nursery is probably the Star Wars quote picture – my husband is a massive geek fan, and I thought it would be nice to have a little tribute to that in the room. I got the print from a graphic designer on Etsy and had it printed and framed. Cute!

There are also a couple of bits in our room for Baby Morgs – the moses basket and nursing chair, as that is where he will sleep at first. Both of these items were bargains off gumtree! I think it is really worthwhile looking for things second hand, I love a bargain and often you can get things that have been barely used. I also got a moby wrap from Gumtree (£15!) and a travel cot that was pretty much brand new.
So, it looks like we have everything ready, just one thing missing….
