So yesterday was our 20 week scan and we got to see our wriggly baby once again. We had a lovely day as a family starting off by going out for breakfast together, and then dropped Ted to my friend’s house so we could go off to the hospital. Normally getting anywhere in Bristol is quite a challenge and I am always worried we are going to be late, and even once you get to the hospital finding a parking space is normally pretty stressful. However, things were on our side and we drove straight there with no problems and parked up with plenty of time to spare.
I love sitting in the waiting room watching all the other expectant couples – there is a feeling of such anticipation, mixed with some worry and of course excitement. I am always glad to have my husband sat next to me! Our sonographer was absolutely brilliant – she explained everything she was looking for and talked as through the whole process. It was really reassuring and everything is looking great with baby – the measurements are as they should be and the sonographer got to see everything she wanted. For this pregnancy it turns out I have an anterior placenta – which isn’t anything to be worried about, it just might cushion movement at times. The baby was moving loads and opening and closing it’s little hands – it was a really lovely experience.
So… then the big question!
Yep, it’s a healthy little boy – we are team blue. A little brother for Ted! I have thought it was a boy all along so wasn’t surprised, but my husband had been thinking it was a girl. Neither of us minded either way of course! I can just imagine our life with two active and funny boys – we are going to have so much fun! I actually can’t wait. I am now well and truly outnumbered! I feel like we really don’t have much to do in preparation for this baby, we have lots of lovely boy clothes and I have bought a couple of new outfits for him, and we have everything else too! I have done the important stuff – i.e got all of my blue wool out in preparation for knitting him something special. I love that he is going to be a winter baby and I am going to be heavily pregnant over this season.
We are so excited to welcome our baby boy into the world in January 2016! 🙂
