Review: OXO Tot Mash Maker

You may already know that we are currently in the midst of weaning, and Arthur is eating a wide variety of food – in fact, he can’t get enough! He absolutely loves eating. He is so curious when it comes to food and really will try anything, regardless of it’s taste or texture. We are definitely having lots of fun with food, and were excited to try the new Mash Maker from OXO Tot as part of our weaning journey.

The Mash Maker is a nifty device that can be used for creating your own purees at home, with minimal mess and fuss. It’s design is that of a mill, with a non-slip base and leak-proof lid. Simply spoon whatever you want to puree for your little one into the mill body and turn the handle on the top. The food is pushed through the grinding plate and comes out in a consistently textured puree. You can control the thickness of the puree but adding a little water if needed, and any excess water is caught in the base. It really is that simple! The Mash Maker has been great for us as a family – as a busy Mum of two I have been able to feed the same meal to the whole family which is just ideal. I have used the Mash Maker on lots of different things – carrots, sweet potato, peas to an entire portion of spaghetti bolagnese! It has handled the food really well and Arthur has pretty much eaten everything he has been given.

I have found this product to be really sturdy and ergonomic, but most importantly – easy to clean! You can take the Mash Maker apart easily into 5 pieces, give it a thorough clean and then pop it in the top rack of the dishwasher. It is a really handy bit of kit to have, even if you are going down the baby led weaning route and might want to occasionally want to mash up some meals for your little one.

This was the first time I had heard of the brand OXO Tot – they are an American brand that make weaning and feeding equipment, including high-chairs and homeware. We have also been trying out their spoons and handy roll up bib, which have been fantastic. All of the products we have been using are high quality and easy to clean – just what you need for weaning! The Mash Maker is available from Lakeland and costs £25 – the perfect addition to your family kitchen.
